Board Members

Mr Donald Rushton
Chair

Mr Donald Rushton (Chair) was Chairman of the Audit Committee from 2005 until 2008, when he was appointed Chairman of MHGL Board.  He has a background in Merchant Banking and Insurance Broking with extensive general management experience both in the UK and abroad. 

Mr Tim Ayre

Mr Tim Ayre is a qualified Urban Estate Surveyor, providing specialist advice to those involved in the commercial property sector. His principal activities are strategy formulation and review, portfolio analysis and investment appraisal and advice on sales and purchases, structuring of transactions, asset management and managing acquisition/disposal processes. Tim joined MHA’s Development and Finance Committees in 2009 and was appointed to serve on the Board of MHA in 2010.  He joined the MHGL Board in July 2011.

Mr Ian Bullock

Mr Ian Bullock was formerly General Manager and Head of the Woolwich Retail Network, a Member of the Management Committee of Woolwich Plc and Chairman of the Woolwich Pension Fund. Following its take-over by Barclays, he managed the integration of Woolwich Plc into the Barclays Group as Director of Human Resources.  Ian joined the Board of Magna Housing Association Limited in 2008, and is currently its Chair and a Non-executive Director of Charter (S.W.) Limited. He was nominated to serve on the Board of Magna Housing Group Limited in 2009 and also serves on its Audit Committee.

Mr Piers Feilden MBE

Mr Piers Feilden MBE has a degree in Mathematics and Economics, 30 years business experience and ran his own medium-sized company for 20 of those years.  He is Chair of a charity that provides offending behaviour programmes within prisons and his skills include finance, business management and business strategy.  Piers joined the Board of Magna West Somerset Housing Association Limited in 2005, is currently its Chair and has served on the Board of Magna Housing Group Limited since 2007.   

Mr Steve Gough

Mr Steve Gough has been a university lecturer in Housing Studies for 8 years. Previously, he had worked in housing practice for 20 years.  Since 2005, Steve has served on the Board of Magna Careline Limited and the Audit Committee and continues to serve on the Board of Magna Housing Association Limited.  He was nominated to the Board of Magna Housing Group Limited in 2009. 

Mr Clive Hoskisson (Vice Chair) is a former Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of England and Wales and Managing Director of a Public Limited Company.  His skills include property development, management and maintenance, financial management and accountancy, private finance and banking, legal and personnel.  Clive was first nominated to the Board of Magna Housing Group Limited in 2002.  He also serves on its Finance Committee, on the Board of Magna West Somerset Housing Association Limited and he is Chair of the Board of Charter (S.W.) Limited. 

 
Mr Adam Peat

 Mr Adam Peat joined the Board of Magna Housing Group Limited on 1 October 2011.

Mr Karuna Tharmanthar

Mr Karuna Tharmananthar is a Chartered Civil Engineer and senior local government officer responsible for technical, financial and management control of  development and regeneration projects, working closely with partner organisations to deliver sustainability and transport provision in North Somerset.  He joined the Board of Magna West Somerset Housing Association Limited in 2008 and was nominated to serve on the Board of Magna Housing Group Limited in 2010. 

Mr Tony Thomas

Mr Tony Thomas is a former partner of PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP. He is a Chartered Accountant with extensive computer systems and audit experience in both the private and public sectors. His other skills concern privatisation of government services, risk management, pensions schemes and construction.  He joined the Magna Housing Group Limited Board in 2007, is Chair of its Finance Committee and serves on its Audit Committee.
