It includes functions such as legal, finance, personnel and communication that work across the group, providing value for money and consistency. Our day-to-day operations are managed by paid staff, but our work is directed by unpaid Boards made up of members from the local community
Magna Housing Association operates mostly in Dorset, Devon, and parts of Somerset. What began in 1993 as West Dorset Housing Association with the purchase of West Dorset District Council’s housing stock, now has 6,116 homes to let, 244 shared ownership homes and another 199 homes to rent and buy currently under construction (as at 30th September 2011).
Magna West Somerset Housing Association operates mostly in West Somerset and parts of Devon. Since taking over the ownership and management of homes and garages from West Somerset District Council in 1998, and forming the Magna Housing group along with MHA, MHGL and Careline, MWS now has 2,189 homes to let, with a further 36 properties under construction and 40 shared ownership properties (as at 30th September 2011).
Charter (S.W.) Ltd is Magna’s development company. As well as providing shared ownership homes for first time buyers in partnership with local organisations, Charter has a number of joint ventures with private developers to build open market housing across Dorset, Devon and Somerset.
Magna Careline is our monitoring and alarm service. Operating 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, we provide peace of mind for more than 11,500 private and business customers across the south west.
