Stuart shines as top student

The Chartered Institute of Housing (CIH) have named Magna Housing Association’s Stuart Boddy as the best SW regional student for 2011.
Stuart, housing officer within the income management team at Magna based in Dorchester, originally joined the group five years ago as a finance assistant. He worked his way into the rewarding area of housing, and has been in his current role for three years.
Having moved to beautiful Dorset after 10 years of working for a freight forwarding company in Heathrow, Stuart’s current role couldn’t be more different: “I didn’t plan a career in social housing,” says Stuart. “But I really enjoy it now. My job is incredibly rewarding as I feel I make a difference to people and their lives, and it’s a good feeling to make a difference. Every tenant is individual and has a different story, giving great variety to my job.”
Stuart wanted to complete the CIH Distance Learning Level 3 certificate in housing to increase his knowledge and gain a valuable qualification, with the aim to provide him with a long and successful career in social housing. In his quest he was wholly supported not only by his colleagues at Magna, but also his tutor, Derek, who provided excellent and speedy support, allowing Stuart to complete each module ahead of schedule.
A cheque for £200 will be presented to Stuart at the CIH SW Housing Event & Conference Dinner on Thursday 26th April at the Palace Hotel in Torquay.
