Magna achieves a first to be accreditation centre
5/13/2009
Magna Housing Group has been accredited as an OCR NVQ Centre, the first housing association in the region to achieve this.
Magna prides itself on its record in developing, motivating and rewarding staff. Achieving ‘NVQ Centre status’ has demonstrated its firm commitment to training and development.
Following a lot of hard work, the first members of staff to achieve their NVQs through the Magna Centre recently joined their managers, directors and other Centre staff to celebrate their achievements. Three members of staff achieved their NVQ Assessor awards and a further three have achieved NVQs in Management. These staff work in very different parts of the business including repairs and customer care and are based in offices across the south west in Dorchester in Dorset, Williton in West Somerset and Honiton in Devon.
Head of Personnel for Magna Housing Group, Rosalyn Booton, says, “NVQs are not an easy option and require an awful lot of hard work so we are pleased that we have so many achievers.
Being accredited as an NVQ Centre is a real plus for us as an organisation, we feel that it shows us as a forerunner in providing training opportunities in our sector.”
The ‘Centre’ within Magna Housing Group is continuing to grow with a further thirty candidates coming forward and two new assessors being trained from within the organisation.
Rosalyn adds, “With our accreditation we can also assess NVQ candidates from outside Magna. We currently offer NVQs in Management, Customer Service, Business and Administration, IT and the new Business Skills Certificate. In future, we hope to offer Health and Social Care and also NVQ in Housing.
"I would especially like to thank Pauline Clenshaw, our Training and Staff Development Officer, who has worked extremely hard to get this accreditation and will be ensuring we retain this in the future.”
Anyone wishing to find out more about how to access NVQ training via Magna should contact Pauline Clenshaw, Centre Co-ordinator, on 01305 216063.
