Magna ladies battle against adverse weather for Race for Life

Last week’s wind and rain didn’t halt the ladies at Magna’s efforts to raise money in the run up to the 2009 Race For Life.

15 members of staff at Magna Housing Group are entering Cancer Research’s Race for Life at Kingston Maurwards on 31st May this year and in addition have been rolling up their sleeves for the charity.

Last week saw the team raise more than £270 from a charity car wash and BBQ . This is the first in a series of events organised at Magna in the run up to the race in order to raise extra money.

Other events planned for later this month include a cake sale and raffle with prizes donated by Magna staff.

Kate Carpenter, a member of Magna's legal team, helped to organise the event. "I took part in the Race for Life last year and was bowled over by the atmosphere. As a group we were really keen to do as much for the charity as possible this year.

"A lot of people and organisations helped with our car wash and BBQ and we want to thank everyone who got involved and made it such a success."

Thanks should also go to Simon Walton of Asda in Weymouth for providing the food for the BBQ and also to Jewsons who provided the car washing equipment.
