How to apply

The recruitment process at Magna

Part 1: Choose a job vacancy at Magna

Most vacancies are advertised both internally and externally.  However, all applicants are treated in exactly the same way. Instructions about how to apply will be set out in the advert.

Part 2: Request an application pack

An application pack for each vacancy is available to download.  Under each vacancy there will be a job description, person specification and application form.  Other information may also be included depending upon the job being advertised.

Alternatively, an application pack can be requested from the personnel department »

Part 3: Complete an application form

Return your completed application form to the personnel department via e-mail to jobs@magna.org.uk, or by post »

Application forms are logged and the first and last sections, containing the applicant's personal details, are removed before they are given to the recruiting manager to shortlist.

Part 4: Your application form assessment

The main part of the application form is sent to the recruiting manager.  The manager will assess each applicant against the job criteria and decide who will be selected for an interview.

Part 5: Arrange an interview

Once the selection process has been completed the application forms will be returned to the personnel department. We will then send letters to unsuccessful applicants and arrange interview times for the applicants selected for an interview. All applicants will be given the opportunity to request feedback.

Part 6: Attend the interview

Generally interviews are held by two people including the line manager. The process can include a profiling assessment, appropriate tests e.g. typing and a formal interview. Full details of the interview process will be set out in interview confirmation letters.

Part 7: Outcome of your interview

Applicants will be told at the interview when they can expect to hear the outcome. Applicants will also be given the opportunity to request feedback.

Part 8: Receive offer of employment

For the successful applicant(s), a letter of offer will be issued along with any other relevant paperwork.
