Consultation with Magna residents for new agreement

Magna Housing’s 6,000 or so tenants are currently being asked for their views on a proposed new tenancy agreement.

Discussions have been taking place with the housing association’s tenant representatives about its ideas on the new agreement and asking for their feedback. Magna tenants have also recently received a question and answer sheet giving detailed information about the proposal and asking for comments.

Head of Magna’s housing services department, Elaine Crooke, says, “Over the years revised tenancy agreements have been issued to new tenants, which has resulted in ten or so slightly different agreements being in use. This can cause confusion for both residents and staff and makes it difficult to apply standard policies to everyone.”

Magna’s new agreement will reflect developments in housing law and good practice and ensure that all residents have up-to-date information about their rights and responsibilities as well as Magna’s duties.

It is planned that the new agreement will be available before April. Magna will write to every tenant before then with copies of the new tenancy to sign.

Elaine adds, “We are pleased that we are able to consult with residents and get their feedback on such a large scale with this project. A new tenancy agreement will be of benefit to both residents and to us as landlord and so it is important that we all play a part in putting it together.”

Residents will be receiving more information over the next few months. If anyone has any questions or concerns they can contact Elaine on 01305 216125.
