02.07.07 - Magna Housing Group Seeks Support from Local Planners to Stay Local

Magna Housing Group has today submitted a planning application to West Dorset District Council for the demolition of its current Poundbury Road premises and replace them with a new sustainable building which can accomodate virtually all of its Dorchester based staff.

The building has been designed by Ridge and Partners of Oxford and is a 4 storey curved building with stone washed render and copper elevations.

As a local employer of almost 300 staff, many of whom live locally, Graham Colls, Chief Executive commented, ” This application is a big step for us and for Dorchester too. Our continued growth means we need more space and re-development of our existing site is the best way to achieve it. This would be a significant investment and, we hope, a good addition to the townscape in an established commercial area of the town. The extra space and facilities which the new building would give us would help us meet our aims to do the best we can for our customers and staff.'

If the planning application is successful, work is expected to start on the development in early 2008.
