18.01.07 - Magna members' meeting of minds

Members from across all of Magna’s boards made for an excellent turnout to enjoy five sessions, including a review of recent events in the housing world and their importance to Magna, the process of planning within Magna and the organisation’s work on improving culture within the workplace.

Magna Housing Group chairman, Colin Rolls, felt this was one of the best conferences Magna has held, “We were provided with many good papers from our directors which provoked some extremely positive discussions. The conference also provided us with some useful guidance on what work is needed across the group.”

Magna resident and board member, Lorna Hill, said of the event, “This was a very positive conference. It highlighted the climate in which Magna works and gave us all an opportunity to consider the direction the organisation should take.”

The guest speaker was regional director of the South West division of the Housing Corporation, Andrew Wiles. He talked to members about what the Corporation expects from housing associations, taking the opportunity for Magna and the Corporation to gain a good understanding of each other.

Magna Housing Group chief executive, Graham Colls, said “This event is invaluable in enabling me to do my job. It’s a good opportunity for me to think aloud and talk directly to our members and is one of two occasions in the year where all four of our boards come together.”
