2.1.2008 - Magna Housing Association relocates Sherborne Area Office

Magna Housing Association will today open its new area office in Sherborne taking over an old office previously used by West Dorset District Council.

From Thursday 3rd January 2008, Magna Housing Association’s Sherborne Office will be located at
Sherborne Town Council,
The Manor House,
Newland,
Sherborne,
Dorset. DT9 3JL.

The office will be open on
Thursdays 8.30am - 1.00pm then 1.30pm - 4.30pm.

In the spirit of making best use of resources, Magna Housing Association will be utilising the existing office equipment previously owned by West Dorset District Council, and will be making a donation of £500 towards the district council Chairman’s chosen charity of Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance.

Commenting on the new arrangements, David Aldwinckle, Director of MHA said “We are delighted to working out of this central location. Although Magna Housing Association’s office will only be open for one day a week, we will be happy to make appointments for residents who wish to meet on other days at their convenience”.

West Dorset District Council Leader Robert Gould said:
“Magna Housing Association’s new office will be a great asset for people living in the Sherborne area. It is particularly useful that it is in Manor House with the Citizens Advice Bureau and district council housing advice surgeries. With Sherborne Town Council taking on the role of providing information on district council services, this makes the building a one stop shop for advice on housing, benefits, planning and many other local services. By working closely with the town council and others, we have tried to provide a convenient and cost-effective office for local people.”

West Dorset District Council Chairman Ronald Coatsworth said:

“I am pleased that district council equipment can be re-used in this important new housing office and am very pleased to pass on the payment as a donation to Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance, a vital and worthy local charity.”

The opening of the Area Office will be undertaken by Peter Body, Chairman of the MHA Northern Area Panel, Ronald Coatsworth, Chairman of West Dorset District Council, Robert Gould, West Dorset District Council Leader and MHA Director David Aldwinckle, and a rep from Dorset & Somerset Air Ambulance.
