28.03.07 - Magna’s consultation a success

A consultation event held by Magna Housing looking at the provision of more affordable homes in Beaminster last Friday (23 March), went down well with locals.

Proposed plans of a future development in the town were put on display at Beaminster’s Town Council offices encouraging local residents to have their say.

Development programme manager for Magna, Nigel Spencer, hosted the event. He says, “We had a good turnout with plenty of people taking an interest in our proposals for development at the end of Flaxfield Road. The majority of those who attended were pleased that more affordable housing was planned for the area. We also had the opportunity to listen to a number of comments that we will be considering prior to submitting planning permission.”

A local resident who attended the event completed a feedback form with an additional comment saying, “I like the variety, amenity areas and eco-friendly build specification. Well done!”

Magna aims to submit an application for planning permission during April. It is anticipated that an application for funding from the Housing Corporation will be made in the Autumn. Whether or not funding is awarded will not be known until early 2008, so if all goes to plan the Association would hope to start work on site mid 2008.
