03.04.07 - Work 4 Magna heralded a great success

April sees the first anniversary of the “Work 4 Magna” scheme where existing staff are paid £50 for introducing someone as a new member of staff.

The scheme, which as seen 4 new recruits over the year, has been heralded a great success.

The newest member of staff to join through the scheme, Linda Bain, who works in the Careline part of the organisation, said, “I am so pleased that I work at Magna. They are a great employer who provide a huge number of benefits.”

The scheme was set up following a suggestion from a member of staff that those who already work for Magna are in the best position to judge who are the right people to recruit. Rosalyn Booton, head of personnel, said, “It is important that people are happy at the organisation where they work and with this scheme potential staff can get a real feel for the organisation, through their friend, before they are even offered a job.”

She added, “Housing Associations are great places to work. There is such a wide variety of job roles including personnel, financial, legal, administration, housing professionals, as well as trades including masonry, plumbing, electrical and carpentry.”

The scheme is open to all staff and the only restrictions are that they cannot introduce a relative through the scheme, nor would they be allowed to take part in the recruitment process of anyone who they have nominated..

John Trump, who was the first person to win £50 for introducing Janet Rowan to a role as part-time administrator, said, “I was bowled over when I was given £50, I was just doing a mate a favour by suggesting she applied for the job. The money was a really welcome bonus – a good turnout for everyone!”

Anyone interested in applying for a job at Magna can look at current vacancies on their website, www.magna.org.uk.

Magna welcomes all applicants to apply for vacancies regardless of sex, age, marital status, sexual orientation, ethnicity, religion/belief or disability.
