24.05.06 - Work 4 Magna initiative

Magna Housing employees are earning extra cash and boosting the organisation’s recruitment of new staff in the process.

Magna currently employs just over 370 staff across the whole organisation and is fully aware that to provide a good service to its customers, it is important to find and retain skilled and dedicated staff. With a healthy staff turnover of around 12.5% per year, Magna benefits from having the flexibility to provide opportunities for internal promotion as well as chances for new employees to bring their skills to the company.

By introducing people they know to Magna, staff can earn themselves £50 through a new ‘Work 4 Magna’ initiative. The initiative works by current employees talking to people they know about vacancies within the organisation. If that person applies and is successful in getting the job, the member of staff who introduced them gets their £50 reward.

Head of personnel for Magna, Ros Booton, says “Housing Associations are great places to work. There is such a wide variety of job roles including personnel, financial, legal, administration, housing professionals, as well as trades including masonry, plumbing, electrical and carpentry.”

Ros adds, “Often the best form of advertising is by ‘word of mouth’. Who better to advertise that Magna is a good place to work than the people that already work here. We hope that by running this initiative we will encourage more people to take an interest in us as a suitable employer and in the process earn some current staff a bit of extra cash.”

There are some restrictions to this scheme, however. Staff may not nominate any relatives through the scheme, nor would they be allowed to take part in the recruitment process of anyone who they have nominated.

Magna welcomes all applicants to apply for vacancies regardless of sex, age, marital status, sexual orientation, ethnicity, religion/belief or disability.
