06.06.06 - Magna dress down for charity

Staff from Magna Housing Group have made another donation to a popular charity after raising £700 from their monthly Dress Down Days.

For nearly five years, staff have had the choice to pay a pound to ‘dress down’ and wear their jeans or other casual clothes. At the end of each year, staff vote to donate the money they have raised to a charity of their choice.

This year staff voted for their £700 raised to go towards Cancer Research UK.

Cancer Research UK is a leading organisation dedicated to cancer research. Cancer is sadly a common disease, with over 270,000 new cases being diagnosed each year, and so Magna staff felt this was worthy cause.

A new vision statement has been issued by Cancer Research UK’s chief executive, Sir Alex Markham, “Together we will beat cancer.” On receiving the donation from Magna, Sir Alex said, “This is a fantastic amount that the staff have raised for their dressing down days, this makes our vision even more realistic and achievable. Thank you from myself and on behalf of Cancer Research UK.”

Magna’s head of communication, Catriona Fountain, added, “We were delighted to have raised such a substantial amount this year and it’s good that staff get an opportunity to choose the lucky charity.”
