05.06.06 - New guidance for Magna Leaseholders

Magna Housing has increased the ways in which it consults with its customers this summer, by producing a new handbook for its leaseholders.

Across Dorset, Devon and Somerset, Magna has around 425 leaseholders who have purchased their flat. For the first time leaseholders as Magna’s customers, have received a fully reviewed handbook providing them with more information than ever.

The handbook has been based on a similar format to Magna’s highly successful tenants’ handbook. It now includes a full explanation of a lease and the rights and responsibilities of both the leaseholder and of Magna, as a landlord. Also included is information on dealing with maintenance and repairs, neighbour nuisance and anti-social behaviour, as well as service charges, ground rents and key contact details.

Head of Magna’s housing services, Elaine Crooke, says, “We are really pleased with the finished handbook for our leaseholders. It sets out clearly and brings together information that will be extremely useful to them.”

Magna has also been able to use the handbook to provide leaseholders with information on customer care and equality and diversity issues.

One Magna leaseholder, Jenny Guest, who is also a member of the association’s eastern area tenants’ panel, was impressed with her copy of the handbook, “I think this is a really useful and comprehensive document. I’ve spoken to a few other leaseholders and it seems to have been well received.”
