15.10.07 - Magna Gives Small Businesses a Boost

Magna resident, Tracy Adams proudly unveiled her new business at the Annual NCT Mother & Baby Fayre in Dorchester’s Corn Exchange.

Tracy’s unusual business is Everlasting Sculptures. She explains ‘I specialise in casting newborn babies hands and feet. I also do belly casting of expectant mums. I go to my clients homes to take the moulds for the castings. This process lasts about an hour. I come home to finish the sculpture and then drop it off when it's mounted / framed for my clients. I am hoping to be able to cover the Dorset region, in doing so I will have agents covering certain areas for me.

I work on all ages, babies, children and adults. I also do anniversary sculptures, of husbands and wives holding hands. I do praying hands for 1st communions, there are multiple options for poses. I have been professionally trained to cast in marble. So my sculptures are scratch proof, extremely durable and could be displayed on a mantle piece as well as in the garden! I do life-casting parties, for a group of mums and babies. Or antenatal parties, where I go and do a few expectant mums bellies in one go.'

Tracy had a lot of thanks and praise for both Magna Housing Group and Enterprise Connect:

‘Enterprise Connect offered me full business start-up training. They have been fantastic and so supportive. They have helped with writing up my business plan to seek funding for the business. Karenlee attended my first meeting with the banks. Magna have sponsored me posters / leaflets. And of course I can contact Karenlee via phone or email and she has always been willing to advise me on anything! I'm truly grateful for all her help because there is no way I would have set up already without her. I got all the support I needed!’

Magna Chief Executive, Graham Colls said; ‘this was a wonderful way for Magna to help their tenants start their own businesses. We had around 15 people attending weekend seminars and weekly one to one sessions at our Hollands House Office in Dorchester. I am delighted with the results so far and I would like to wish Tracy every success in her almost unique field.’
