06.08.08 - 5 STARS FOR MAGNA MEALS

Magna West Somerset Housing Association (MWS) was pleased as punch last week with a 5 star rating from the local Environmental Health department.

MWS’s kitchen at Ingrams Meadow in Watchet was awarded the highest achievement, a glowing 5 stars after a surprise ‘spot inspection’ which showed that it really is a cut above the rest.

Staff at Ingrams Meadow provide hot meals for residents and for those at its sister site at Silvermead in Alcombe, near Minehead. In addition the meals for ‘Magna Meals on Wheels’ are prepared, cooked and distributed from here.

Community Services Manager for MWS, Barbara Mullan, said, “This is a fantastic result, we weren’t expecting an inspection, so to get 5 stars is a huge pat on the back for everyone. We often see restaurants advertised in the local papers for getting 4 stars, so this is a real achievement.”

‘Magna Meals on Wheels’ is an essential service to many in the area. It provides freshly cooked meals using fresh ingredients from local suppliers. These are delivered hot to the customer’s door. Magna Meals on Wheels is available to everyone who needs it within 10 mile radius of Watchet, and the frequency of deliveries is dependent entirely on the customer’s requirements.

Barbara adds, “Magna Meals on Wheels often provides a point of contact for a vulnerable customer who may well not see anyone else or have the opportunity to get a hot meal during the day. We do a great job and this 5 star rating reinforces that.”
