20.09.07 - Magna Takes Firm Stance on Anti-Social Behaviour

The eviction of a 54 year old Poole man has highlighted the work Magna Housing Association has been doing to combat Anti-Social Behaviour.

Working in partnership with Environmental Health, Dorset Police, Crime & Disorder Reduction Partnership and other groups, Magna now has established it’s own Anti-Social Behaviour Team. Using recent Government legislation, Anti-Social Behaviour Officers can now take swift and decisive action against tenants who cause a problem to other residents.

Anti-Social Behaviour Officer Katy Morris said ‘we have recently evicted a tenant for persistent anti- social behaviour. We started by demoting his tenancy and, with no sign of him mending his ways, we took the decision to evict him’

‘This is not an exceptional case, Magna takes anti-social behaviour, in all it’s forms, very seriously and we try to act, within the parameters of the law, as quickly as we can.’

Tackling anti-social behaviour is not just about enforcement, it’s also about promoting respect, tolerance, acceptance of differences and, most importantly, taking responsibility for our own actions.
