Careline

Help at the touch of a button.
Magna Careline is our monitoring and alarm service for elderly and vulnerable people. Careline provides peace of mind for more than 6,000 customers across the South West. It operates 24-hours a day, every day of the year. Users have the security of knowing that help is available at any time of the day or night - all they have to do is press the button on their pendant or wrist strap.

Who runs Careline?
Careline is run by Magna Housing Association as a non-profit making organisation. Our Dorchester Control Centre is equipped with the latest technology and staffed by fully-trained operators.

How does Careline work?
When users press the button on their pendant or wrist strap, their Careline unit automatically dials the Control Centre.

The Control Centre answers and users' details flash up on screen. The Careline operator knows immediately who is calling, even if the caller cannot speak.

Action taken by the Control Centre depends on the nature of the call. Careline might call a friend, relative, doctor, the emergency services, or Magna's Mobile Wardens.

How much does Careline cost?
You can rent a unit at the all-inclusive price of £15.15 a month.

Individuals can purchase a Careline unit from £199.00 with a monthly monitoring charge of £6.61.

You do not have to be a Magna tenant to use Careline.

West Somerset's Lifeline
Magna West Somerset offers a 24-hour emergency alarm service monitored through Careline.

The rental cost of adding Lifeline 1000 to an existing phone is £3.12 per week for our bronze service. The rental fee includes 24 hour monitoring, key holder call out and emergency service call out.

The rental cost for our silver service is £3.72 per week. This includes 24 hour monitoring, key holder call out, emergency service call out plus Magna Mobile warden call out.

The Lifeline 1000 purchase price (to add to an existing phone) is £199.75 plus a weekly monitoring charge of £1.85.

Magna West Somerset Home from Hospital Service
Magna West Somerset is providing all frail or elderly people within the district of West Somerset the opportunity of Lifeline coverage on 'return from hospital basis' for up to one month.

Magna West Somerset is working in partnership with Hospitals, District Nurses, Occupational Therapists and Social Services to connect Lifeline coverage into the homes of anyone being discharged from hospital who need extra assistance at home.
