Personal independence payment (PIP)
Personal independence payment (PIP) has been brought in to replace Disability Living Allowance (DLA), which people have been unable to claim since 2013.
Existing DLA customers, who were 64 or under in April 2013, are gradually being re-assessed under PIP and moved across, if they qualify. All DLA claims will be reassessed by 2019.
There are two exceptions. People under the age of 16 can still claim DLA, and won’t be re-assessed for PIP until they reach 16. People who were 65 or over in April 2013 will remain on DLA.
