In 2018, Magna Housing signed up to the CIH’s Make a Stand pledge to tackle domestic abuse. The pledge was created to encourage housing organisations to make a commitment to support people experiencing Domestic Abuse – this applies not only to residents but colleagues too.

Magna Housing has reviewed its Domestic Abuse Policy with colleagues and engaged residents. From 1st June, the business has made it mandatory for all new colleagues to take the SkillGate e-learning training on Domestic Abuse.

Domestic Abuse can happen to anyone, colleagues, friends?and family members included. The HR team are in the process of enhancing current procedures to include examples of support that the business will give to colleagues who report they are a victim of domestic abuse. A 24/7 support line and counselling are also available via their employee assistance programme though Medicash.

Suzie Muncaster, Head of HR for Magna, says: 'Our people are our most important asset and we take steps to help them where we can. We know the support we give our colleagues during difficult times can make a real difference. Magna is big enough that we can put support like this in place but small enough to care and give support on an individual colleague basis.’
