This week is #NationalBBQWeek!

We all love a BBQ when the weather is nice, but it’s important to stay safe and also to not annoy the neighbours!

If you’re going to have a party, BBQ or other social events then let your neighbour know beforehand - you could even invite them! Also think about where your guests are parking - are you taking spaces away from your neighbours so they are unable to park? Could your guests park somewhere different or could you check to see if they have a space free?

When choosing a location for your BBQ, make sure it’s on flat, stable ground so it can’t fall over and make sure you keep it away from flammable materials, such as your washing line, trees shrubs or garden sheds. Also think about where the BBQ smoke will go - will this go over into your neighbours washing or into their house?

It’s also a good idea to keep a bucket of water or sand nearby in case of emergency, and once you’re done give the BBQ a while to cool down before moving it.

Do ensure that all food is cooked thoroughly too!

Finally, make sure it’s fully out before you go in for the night
