Our Leadership Team

We’re led by an inspiring chief executive who has big plans for the organisation and the workforce. Through her compassionate and inclusive leadership, we are seeing an incredible amount of change in the past 18 months with the focus on culture, customer experience and the wider well-being of our colleagues.

Supported by a strong executive and leadership team, and directed through our board, she’s been working across the organisation, identifying new opportunities and laying the foundations for the next 10 years.

Our talented leadership team, responsible for our overall performance and delivering our objectives, works across the business to ensure we're developing and transforming in line with our strategic ambitions.

Selina White

Chief Executive

Selina joined Magna in 2018 and is responsible for the smooth running of the overall business. She was previously group finance director at Knightstone Housing Association. Selina spent the first 20 years of her career in accountancy and finance director roles before moving through various senior finance roles with Orbit (also a housing association) and BNP Paribas bank.

Sarah Barrett

Director of Strategy and Transformation

Sarah Barrett joined Magna in 2018 from the Ombudsman Services as chief relationships officer with responsible for driving the OS Business Transformation programme. Prior to this she was based in the south west working for Knightstone Group as their director of business transformation. She is responsible for our transformation, and the delivery of our strategy. She oversees the IT, communication and business transformation functions.

Tony Murray

Housing Director

Tony joined Magna in 2002 after having worked for worked for 7 years as housing services manager at Windsor Housing. Prior to this he spent 14 years working for both local authorities and housing associations in inner London, being responsible for a wide range of housing services. He is responsible for all the housing, sheltered housing and support and maintenance services that Magna provides for its customers. Tony is passionate about engaging with customers to make a positive difference to their customer experience.

Steve Fraser

Finance Director

Steve joined Manga in June 2015 and is responsible for finance, governance and data services. He has worked at Price Waterhouse and The Boots Company, where he worked in finance roles covering retail, healthcare, property and IT (including 3 years in Sydney where he was Director of Finance, IT and Logistics for Boots Healthcare Australia and New Zealand). Steve moved into the charity and social housing sector in 2006, and before joining Magna was director of resources and social enterprise for Bournemouth Churches Housing Association and director of finance for Methodist Homes.

David Greenhalgh

Interim Strategic Asset Management Director

David has spent all his working life in the housing sector, most recently at Livewest as Exec Director of Property Services. As a member of the Knightstone executive team , he was involved post-merger integration with DCH to form LiveWest. He has led maintenance and asset management services and has a real passion for great customer service and all things to do with Property Maintenance. He is also a Non Exec Board Member with GreenSquare.

Paul Read

Assistant Director of Development

Paul joined Magna in 2017 to restart our ambitions to provide new affordable homes to rent and buy. In addition to Paul’s role at Magna he is supported by the organisation in his Dorset LEP Board position and as Chair of the Constricting Excellence South West Construction Clients Group. Having worked on the front line of housing management, for house builders and construction companies focused on both new build and repairs and maintenance into the housing sector. These insights have enabled Magna to realise the business case to expanding our routes into delivering homes by using both the best in traditional construction alongside our new capability that sees us now manufacturing consistently high quality homes to ever higher environmental standards.

Sharon Martin

Assistant Director of Finance

Sharon joined Magna in December 2012 and was appointed to Assistant Finance Director in 2020. She has an additional 4 years’ experience in other housing associations. Previously Sharon worked at JP Morgan, where she was financial controller for the Technology division across the EAME region. Prior to that she has held senior financial roles across several companies and industries including entertainment, construction and engineering. Throughout her career there has been a constant theme of building and construction which fits well with Magna.

Christine Boland

Head of Housing Services

Christine joined Magna in 2002 and was appointed head of housing services in 2017. Christine is responsible for the management of our rented and leasehold homes and our ASB service as well our income management and lettings services. She is responsible for ensuring services are customer-focused and leads on customer involvement in our work. Christine brings a broad range of housing experience to Magna in homelessness, environmental health and public and private sector regeneration. Before joining Magna, Christine served on the board of a local housing association and has gained customer service experience in both retail and the public sector.

Elaine Crooke

Head of Policy, Governance and Research

Elaine joined Magna in 2000 and worked in housing management roles before becoming head of policy, governance and research in 2015. Prior to working for Magna, Elaine worked for local authorities in the Midlands and South East in the areas of housing benefit, housing advice, homelessness and allocations, after starting her working life in the private sector. Elaine is a member of the Chartered Institute of Housing and outside Magna is a director of a local community land trust.

Liz Kite

Head of Marketing Strategy and Delivery

Liz joined Magna in early 2020. She has worked in a range of organisations, most recently in the NHS and local government. She has experience in a wide range of communication, marketing and engagement, disciplines. She is passionate about ensuring all communication and engagement activities are inclusive and help to build strong relationships both within the organisation and externally.

Paul Land

Interim Head of Development and Sales

Paul has over forty years in the construction Industry from civils, contracting, repairs & maintenance to housebuilding. He has experience from the bottom to the top of the “ladder”, and is a construction professional with a life-long fascination for all things in the built environment. His philosophy is never be surprised, always ask, work collaboratively to achieve the desired outcome and share the learning experience for our future.

Suzanne Muncaster

Head of HR

Suzanne joined Magna in 2013 and was appointed head of HR in 2014. Suzanne has worked in the HR field since 2002, gaining experience in a wide range of companies and sectors before joining the housing world with Magna. Magna seems the perfect fit for Suzanne as outside of work she loves renovation and all things houses.

Ian Palmer

Head of IT

Ian joined Magna in 2000 as a senior technician before being promoted to IT operations manager and then to head of IT in 2015. Ian is passionate about all things digital and the enhancements this can bring to our ways of working and to our customer experience.

Jez Morris

Head of Business Transformation

Jez joined Magna in 2012 and has recently taken on this role to help coordinate our transformational journey. Jez has more than 15 years front line experience for various housing organisations and a further 10 years working as a senior manager.

Trea Murphy

Head of Maintenance Services

Joining Magna in 1997 Trea was appointed Head of Maintenance Services in 2003 and has accumulated more than 20 years of maintenance and people management experience in the social housing sector.

She is responsible for delivering customer focused maintenance services covering call centers, repairs, legislative, planned, cyclical and major works at Magna with a team of over 240 operational colleagues. Trea has grown services delivered by the in-house team from £5m to £15m and is passionate about developing people and providing great services.

Michael Taylor

Company Solicitor

Mike joined Magna in 2002. He qualified as a solicitor in 2000 and was appointed as Company Secretary in 2015. Mike heads Magna’s in-house legal team and is responsible for providing a comprehensive legal service to the Board, Executive Team and to all the departments across Magna, and to represent Magna at court or tribunals whenever necessary.. Outside of Magna Mike enjoys playing football, tennis and golf.

Yogesh Vadgama

Head of Asset Management

Yogesh joined Magna in 2009 and is responsible for leading and developing the management and improvement of customer’s homes. Yogesh trained as a Building Surveyor with the London Borough of Lewisham before moving through various senior property and asset management roles at Sovereign, Knightstone, and Spectrum, Housing Associations.

Ian White

Head of Finance

Joining Magna in April 2019, Ian, a qualified accountant, has held senior finance positions in both the commercial and public sectors. Ian has spent 14 of the past 16 years inside the housing sector. Outside of work Ian also commits time to the local community, working on the committee at Bournemouth Athletic Club and as a race director for a 10 mile running event.

Jude Wilkins

Head of Sheltered Housing and Support Services

Joined Magna in January 2018. Jude has worked in a variety of roles within the public sector and local housing associations. All roles have been associated with services for vulnerable and older persons. Jude has responsibility for Extra Care, Sheltered Housing and support services within Magna. These include Money Matters, Tenancy support, Home help, Handyperson gardening and Careline services.
