For our last National Careers Week story, we’d like you to meet Zoe Blyth, who joined Magna as a Money Matters Advisor last December.

Our money matters team work hard to support our customers with maximising their income. Whether that’s by helping customers apply for benefits, helping them to budget and reduce their outgoings, or signposting them to debt advice, they support in every way they can.

Zoe said: “I liked the sound of the job and Magna is local to me. I had heard they’re a good employer which offered job security. Coming from the voluntary and charitable sector this was appealing to me!

“My role is similar to the work I did at Citizens Advice for eight years, and it has been a breath of fresh air working for an organisation that has the resources to meet business needs. Funding is always a challenge in the voluntary sector.”

Zoe is part of a team of six money matters advisors that offer vital support to many customers who are struggling with the rising cost of living. They even help customers with filling in paper forms for things like benefits to give them the best support they can with their finances.

Zoe finished by saying: “My colleagues have been very welcoming and friendly. I’m back in my comfort zone; advice and benefits work is what I know and enjoy.

“If I had to give one tip to someone who wanted to do my job, I’d say patience is key, and an ability to be empathetic is also necessary. Tenacity is also essential!”

We’ve heard stories from four of our colleagues this week, and they’ve had lots to say about their experience, their fantastic colleagues, and the lovely customers that they deal with every day.

We have nearly 500 colleagues at Magna who are on their learning and development journey, working as one team with their colleagues from across the organisation to support us in creating great homes together.
