Estate services

We know that part of what makes your home great extends to outside of your front door. Our estate services team are responsible for the management and maintenance for several services on communal areas that are shared by more than one home.

Services include:

  • Caretaking
  • Cleaning
  • Grounds maintenance
  • Gutter clearance
  • Sewage plant maintenance
  • Tree management
  • Window cleaning

The work we do helps to ensure that the areas around your homes, both internally and externally, are attractive, well-maintained, safe and secure. The work may be carried out by Magna colleagues or by one of our approved contractors.

Most of these services are service chargeable, so if you benefit from or have access to a communal area, then you are likely to contribute to the maintenance.

We care about what you think so will occasionally send you satisfaction surveys so we know what we do well and where we can improve.

You don’t have to wait for a survey though. If you want to give us some feedback, please contact us.

Grass cutting

We usually start cutting the grass in our communal areas towards the end of March each year, until the middle of November. When we start cutting can depend on how firm the ground is and how fast or slow the grass is growing. Our estate services team regularly check these things to make sure they start cutting the grass at the right time.

We may start cutting with an initial 'high cut' and gradually lower the blades each time, so it may take a few weeks for the grass to be cut to the agreed standard. Our estate services team is made up of experienced colleagues who know which methods to use to keep the grass healthy across our many schemes.

We usually won't collect leftover grass after we've finished cutting, and will instead leave any clippings as mulch so that the ground can soak up the nutrients. This helps to keep the grass healthier for longer, so don't worry if you see any clippings left after we've finished. As an added bonus, this also helps to reduce the amount of trips we would make to dispose of leftover grass which is better for the environment.
