Say hello to Raymo, a hybrid remote-controlled mower that our grounds maintenance team have recently been getting to grips with, thanks to a hands-on training session delivered by Newlands Training Ltd.

Using a remote-controlled mower brings massive benefits to the safety of our colleagues, as it can handle steep inclines that are often found across some of the tricky landscapes in Dorset and Somerset that traditional ride-on mowers can’t, meaning that we can keep our colleagues off steep banks whilst they safely mow from a distance!

It can also run in full-electric mode, which helps keep the noise down when we’re mowing close to our customers’ homes and is better for the environment too.

Gavin Barker, Grounds Maintenance Manager at Magna, looks after an experienced grounds maintenance team who keep the areas around our homes looking clean and tidy. He said:

“Our team recently took part in a valuable training session which covered essential procedures such as pre-start inspections, understanding the control functions, and the techniques for navigating different types of terrain.
“A strong emphasis was placed on safety, including the important of maintaining clear visibility, and using proper positioning.
“Maintaining some of our more challenging landscapes has been difficult historically, but I’m really excited for the team to start using the Raymo mower as it will be a game-changer for how we maintain these areas!”

Safety is our number one priority in everything we do at Magna, and we’re proud to have colleagues like Gavin who are always looking for new ways to keep their teams safe.
