Fencing

Fences mark the edge of your property. They aren't there to give you privacy or to keep children or pets in or out. 

Most fences we put up will be chain link (wire mesh). If needed, we'll also put up two privacy panels next to your home.

If your fence is unsafe, please let us know. We'll arrange to make it safe. This may mean taking the whole fence down. We'll book a time to repair or replace it, but there's currently a long wait for fence repairs. Our support team will contact you to arrange and confirm your appointment. Our contact centre can't chase your appointment because this work depends on the weather. If we need to change your appointment because of the weather or another reason, we'll contact you to arrange a new date.

Changing the type of fence you have

If you would like a different type of fence from the one we've provided, you have these options:

• You can put up your own fence in front of the fence we installed, without asking our permission. Your fence must stand on its own and must not be attached to the Magna fence. It must not block or change a right of way (a route people have a legal right to use). We won't look after your fence. We may ask you to remove it when your tenancy ends.
• If you want to change the fence we've installed, you must ask our permission before removing it and putting your own fence on the boundary line (the edge of your property). If we agree, you'll be responsible for looking after the new fence. It mustn't block or change a right of way.
• Please contact us for permission if you want to remove a hedge along the edge of your property and put up your own fence. You must pay for this and either do the work yourself or arrange for someone to do it.
